Rats in the City – Story Board

I will convey the knowledge that I’ve collected during the past weeks in a video form. In order to give the video the feeling of a science documentary film, I will use a deep voice man with an American accent to do the voice over.

The storyline is divided into 4 main parts:

  1. Introducing the ecosystem called NYC.
  2. Who is the Norway Rat? (“Did you know?” facts about rats).
  3. Rats are beneficial to the ecosystem of new york.
  4. People’s gratitude for the city’s rats (the city’s muscat, City Hall’s annual budget for rats).

The order of events in the storyboard is according the numbers at the top of each frame (from 1 to 4).

A field trip to find some rats

Saturday night, I went back to Thomas Paine Park where I met Dr. Jason during night time to see some rats. Guy was my companion in this urban journey. Looking around the park we couldn’t find even one rat so we decided to move to the next location Dr. Jason showed me.
In Columbus Park it became much more interesting. A lot more traps were spread around and we saw an immense amount of barrows. However, still there was no sign for rats.

Scenning the park eventually paid off, guy was the first one to noticed them and once we found one it was easy to follow it to its barrow and from there to find others.

Fortunately, I collected some good videos from that night of rats that I can hopefully use in my movie.
